PHASE 1A VACCINE ROLL OUT: FRONTLINE WORKERS
Vaccine distribution had been prioritized for the Covid front-line workers. In phase 1A, the vaccine was limited to emergency room and ambulance employees.1 Nursing home employees and residents were also eligible. Lines for the drive through shots could not have been that long. Only a few people were eligible. Yet, the media insisted people were lining up to get the shot.
If someone was eligible to get it, they had to download an app. It would prompt the person to confirm their identity and inform them when they should report to the drive through.2 The notification system prevented staff from being vaccinated the same day. I figured the hospital wanted to spread out employee sick calls from vaccine reactions. The Cult made it sound like the policy was due to vaccine scarcity rather than safety precautions.
When it was time for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, staff were warned they might feel feverish, pain at the injection site, flu-like symptoms, or feel a little dizzy. Two doses were required before people were considered “fully vaccinated”. The second dose was believed to be the worst. If staff had symptoms after taking the shot, they were instructed to go home early. To avoid having too many people call out at the same time, staff were instructed to receive the second dose at the end of their shift. Everyone was urged to get the shot before a weekend, just in case they developed flu-like symptoms, they would have the weekend to recover if they did.
Staff vaccinations would normally be performed by the employee health department. Their office was on campus. Why were people required to report to the drive-through instead of going to employee health? The Cult still required masks and PCR testing for both staff and patients. They were still denying patient visitation. It might have been considered an infection risk. Although being in the same room is required to administer a vaccine. It seemed so overboard. Exposure to sick patients is part of the job description. We had never taken steps like that to prevent airborne pathogens like tuberculosis or Ebola. The hospital system I worked for was getting a Pfizer vaccine that had to be stored at -70, another reason to limit the vaccine supply to one place only.
I watched for weird cases with admissions. Nothing. Absolutely nothing appeared for about two weeks.
